Kreinik Silk Bella™: that's amore

How to use this fine thread for embroidery

A few years ago when Hardanger was at a peak of popularity, Kreinik was asked to design a thin silk fiber for woven bars, picots, and other very fine, detailed stitching. We created Kreinik Silk Bella, now available in about 40 colors. Aside from Hardanger, this strong, pure filament silk is used in stitching over one on fine counts of linen, for punchneedle, beading, and crazy quilting.

Recently, designer Barbara Blankenship created this beautiful name tag holder for Kreinik's Creative Director, Dena Lenham, to wear at trade shows. She used Kreinik metallic and silk threads for the stitches, and called out Silk Bella in particular for being the perfect thread for this kind of embroidery. "I loved making the crocheted rose out of the Bella," Barbara told us, "Tiny, tiny thread but it created such a dainty rose." Take a look at the photos to see the results. "It brings me such joy to work with it and see the results in my stitching," Barbara adds. (Barbara - it brings US joy to see the beautiful designs you create with Kreinik thread!)

To use Kreinik Silk Bella in your own projects, simply choose one or more of the beautiful colors available, then use it straight off the reel. Do not separate it — just cut a length and start stitching. This thread is suitable for any stitch, any skill level, any fabric. Make sure you are using a needle with an eye large enough to accommodate the thread and the fabric density; this will reduce any abrasion on the thread.
